Greg Guy, Managing Director Building and joinery is in the blood for Guyco company owner and manager, Greg Guy. He is the fifth generation of his family to take to the trade, and the third generation in Northland.

Born and bred in Whangarei, Greg knows the district well. The district is also very familiar with Guyco products, the business having been in operation for 50 years establishing a creditable reputation during that time.

“My personal philosophy is to ‘do unto others as you would have done unto yourself’,” Greg says, “and that carries over into the business.”

“Guyco has a reputation for thoroughness and professionalism,” he says. “I set high standards, and if it is not good enough for me, then it’s not good enough for the customer.”

Greg believes Guyco’s success has much to do with strong working relationships amongst its staff, and the company’s ability to diversify.

“Employees are looked after here,” he says. “We have a sound working partnership that has resulted in a business with the stability to change its focus and become multi-faceted.”

Since Greg took the reins of Guyco from his father in the mid-1980s, the business has developed into a sizeable entity, and he expects that growth to continue.

“Although our company policy is not to get too big,” he says. “We believe in quality rather than quantity.”
