Jillian Kake - Kitchen Designer
When you create a new kitchen for your home, you need design advice from someone who really knows what they are talking about.
Aldous Huxley once said: "Experience is not what happens to you; it's what you do with what happens to you."
Jillian Kake is Kitchen Designer for Guyco Kitchens in Whangarei and for the past 13 years has been using her skills time and time again. She is probably the only Kitchen Designer in Northland who is not a Joiner, but a Designer who understands Joinery.
Her "first hand" experience of using a kitchen with a large family, combined with her practical nature, proven design skills, and being able to think spatially gives her a distinct advantage over others.
Her background has always involved design. From designing clothing for her own company to designing and building her first home Jillian is one to tackle any challenge. She says one has to "throw oneself at life and see what happens" and she has.
In the past when plumbers and builders decided what went into your bathroom or kitchen, Jillian began a career as one of the first people designing bathrooms. The business just took off, nationwide, and Jillian has never looked back.
Jillian has designed hundreds of kitchens and has never done 2 the same. "Everyone is different" she says "and every one is different too. People come to me and say 'I know what I want' but in fact they know what they don't want. The key to their perfect kitchen is asking the right questions, and I ask plenty of them. It is then that the needs really come out.
I can offer solutions by narrowing the frame of options. Working to budgets, or adjusting budgets to suit the needs; I become a slice in someone's life by taking an idea right the way through to their finished dream kitchen. I often take people shopping for light fittings, floor coverings, paint or wallpaper and furniture because I know where they will get the best for their needs."
Jillian says "I love people and seeing how they live and then giving them guidance. It's up to me to convince them that I know what I'm talking about".
And she does that very well.
